Update on school closure

Dear Parents,

As we all have been watching, the coronavirus (COVID-19) has made its way to Shelby County. The health and safety of all our St. Ann family is of the utmost importance, and we wanted to provide you with information about the proactive planning efforts and actions that we are undertaking.
In light of the announcement from the Catholic Diocese of Memphis and Bishop Talley to close schools next week, we want you to know that we are working diligently here at St. Ann to come up with an immediate plan of action to keep your children safe while continuing their education.
There will be no classes on campus next week, March 16-20th, however, we are working on plans now for remote learning. Teachers are meeting tomorrow to work on best ways to get information to students. Fortunately we live in an age where this is all possible. With a plethora of tools at our disposal such as Google Hangout, iStation, Khan Academy, Blogger and many more, we have full confidence that we can make this happen. It is vital that learning does not stop.
We are arranging two pick up times for parents to come to St. Ann to pick up materials yourchildren will need, including handouts, books and packets. Also, iPads (3rd – 8th grade) and Kindles (1st & 2nd) are available, if you do not have access to one at home. Please make plans to attend one of our pick up times.
Sunday, March 15 from 2:00-4:00 pm
Monday, March 16 from 8:00-9:00 am
Any and all sports, clubs, and afterschool activities are cancelled for this week.  We will work on plans to reschedule events such as Trivia Night, Beta Club Inductions, Chicken Biscuits, etc. once we know when we will return to a regular schedule.
As this is a fluid situation that is unprecedented, please know decisions and changes are being made daily. We will communicate this information to you as soon as we can.
Please trust that we do not take these decisions lightly and have the best interest of all in mind.

God bless you,
Didier Aur
Principal
St. Ann Catholic School
