Monday: March 16

Morning Powwow:
Good morning, 3G Scholars!!
  • Are you ready for your first day of remote learning? I am!!
  • Have you made a schedule yet for your day?
  • Have you joined our new Newsela class on-line? Your mom or dad should have received an email from me. If not, let me know.  If we're out next week, your reading assignments will be in Newsela.

Here’s Monday’s work:

***Weekly IXL: It will posted on the blog as usual.

Reading - Do a close read on Irish Immigrants (handout). Be sure to highlight the main idea and supporting details. Look up words you don’t know (the link to Dictionary.com is on the right side of the blog), and annotate. After the close read, complete the graphic organizers and questions. If you don’t have a highlighter, use a yellow marker.

This assignment is for Monday AND Tuesday.

Math: Review Part of a Set (fractions), pages 396 - 397 in your math textbook. For practice, redo the odd #s, and I’ll post the answers later. Remember, it’s division! Write down your questions for our 10am powwow on the blog.

Handwriting - Lesson 13, page 63 and 64. You know the drill. It will be due on Friday.

***Spelling - new spelling words are posted on the blog and are on the handout. Read them with your mom, dad, or a sibling. You do NOT have to write them in your planner. The phonics worksheet is page 65. The pre-test and test will be next week, if we are back at school. In the meantime, study your words.

Religion - Chapter 15. Read pages 197 - 199. Complete the activity on page 199. I’ll post the important information to highlight.

***Grammar - review of Adjective and Articles. The notes will be posted on the blog. Read the notes. If you have questions, write them down for our 2pm powwow.

Science - Chapter 10 Matter and It’s Properties. Write vocabulary words on page 275. You know the drill. This assignment will be for Monday (3 words/day ) Tuesday (3 words), and Wednesday (4 words).

Novel study: Also, if you are reading Arctic Freeze, go on and finish the book and novel study at your own pace over the next week. Try to have it complete by Friday, including the sequence of events. You can work with a friend on this part only. Use your book to look for text evidence!!!

*** Scroll past the Newsela post for the IXL, Grammar notes, and spelling words. If you need to find an old post, you can go to the archives, which is on the right side at the bottom.

We'll meet on the blog at 10am and 2pm today!  Have your questions ready. Miss you al1!
