STREAM Challenge: No Hands!

Students were challenged to design and build a device that that their team could use to transport ping pong balls to a bucket without touching/throwing the balls or crossing the line.

They used gravity (science) to move the ball, invented a new device as a system to deliver the ball (technology), designed and built a device that would last for at least one minute and would successfully carry the ball (engineering), used every day materials creatively (arts), and measured distance to determine length (math).

They also incorporated problem solving, critical thinking, team work, and mostly importantly, time management since they only had 8 minutes to build their device.

Afterwards, the class evaluated their performances and discussed ways to improve their devices.

Congratulations to the team with the winning design: Addie, Cadence, Ashley, Angelene, and Isabella!!!

Boo!

Have a fun and safe Halloween!

Bibliography for Religion Project

Reminder: Write down the name of the website and the date on which you did your research. It's that easy. Use a comma between the website and date. End the with a period.

For example, I researched my saint on catholicsaints.info on Friday, Oct. 28th so my bibliography will be:

Catholicsaints.info, Oct. 28, 2016.

Multiplication Centers

We practiced our multiplication facts using number bonds, flash cards, dice, and other manipulatives.

Thank you, Mrs. Kissell

Mrs. Kissell visited us today to read her favorite book, Big Pumpkin.

Important Reminders about RQ Quizzes

RQ reminder: Oct. 31 is Monday.

If you haven't taken your RQ quiz, you have one more opportunity (unless you do it before or after school).

ALSO, if you failed your RQ quiz (or just want a better grade), you can still take another one. I will take the highest grade.

If you do not taken a quiz on Monday, you will have a 0. If you have not retaken a new quiz for a better grade, the grade in Plus Portal will be your final grade.

RQ grades: Since I will not be printing RQ quiz grades, you can ask your child. The results are given as soon as they finish (for example: PASSED  14/1  or   FAILED  5/15 ). I will have the numerical grade posted to Portal Plus within a day or two of the quiz.

As your child takes more quizzes and scores higher, I will adjust the grade. I will never lower it, so your child can take as many as he/she wants during the month (books must be on grade level, unless I have spoken with your child).

Remember 3G, don't wait until the end of the month to start taking your RQ quizzes!!

Homework

Cleo & Evan

We've getting to know Cleo and Evan through their actions and dialogue (our new WOW! word). In Reading class, we created Venn Diagrams comparing and contrasting the two main characters of Key Hunters: The Mysterious Moonstone.
