We wrapped up the day with a movie — something I have never done in my classroom, but this class is soooo awesome, hard-working, and well-behaved. I felt like they deserved something special. We watched The Star to help get us excited for Christmas, not that we need help there. While we watched the movie, we are popcorn and peppermint Oreos. Then we had a balloon toss where we exchanged kind words with our classmates. When the students get home, they can pop their balloon to get their special message.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills can be learned through coding and engineering — and lots of practice, failing, more practice, and failing some more. It’s all part of the learning process, which makes us lifelong learners!

Math - HO

Grammar Notes: Linking Verbs

Linking Verbs DO NOT show action. Linking verbs connect the subject and the complete predicate (think of it like a bridge).

Check out the examples below:
Gabby is a sweet girl.
Isn’t isn’t something that Gabby can do. It connects the subject (Gabby) to the predicate (is a sweet girl.)

My cats are happy napping on the couch.
Areing isn’t something that cats can do. Are connects the subject (My cats) to the predicate (are happy napping on the couch).

MLG&W Art Contest

I’m so proud of our talented artists! They came up some original and clever ideas for Water Mane.

Thank you to all the parents who brought in 11x17 pieces of poster board. I know it was an add size, but the rules of the contest dictated the size. :)

Graphic Organizers

Students are designing and illustrating their own original graphic organizers that give the topic, main idea, and text evidence from the story Penguin Chick.

Poster board for art contest (due Wed.)

I know this is more HW than you're used to, but you've had your spelling words for 7 days, and I've assigned the extra grammar HO, because so many of you still need to practice identifying and writing plural possessive nouns. Don't let the HW stress you out. Do your best!
