Grammar Notes: Linking Verbs

Linking Verbs DO NOT show action. Linking verbs connect the subject and the complete predicate (think of it like a bridge).

Check out the examples below:
Gabby is a sweet girl.
Isn’t isn’t something that Gabby can do. It connects the subject (Gabby) to the predicate (is a sweet girl.)

My cats are happy napping on the couch.
Areing isn’t something that cats can do. Are connects the subject (My cats) to the predicate (are happy napping on the couch).
