Thankful Thursday!

Morning Powwow
I hope everyone enjoyed Wellness Wednesday.
Next week, Louden is going to lead us in a yoga class.

Reading - Newsela.  Do a close read on the article How Geography Shapes the Weather
Since you can’t annotate, take notes after reading it once to get a general idea. Also, look up words that you don’t know. Then take the quiz.

Newsela is due TODAY and will count as a QUIZ grade, so the score you end with will be your grade. Please make sure you reread the article at least twice before taking the quiz. You can even go in Hangouts and read it with your friends. Take your time.

Math - Subtracting fractions. Text book pages 402 & 403. Read p. 402 and watch the Doceri lesson that I have posted. You will complete 2 - 6, even only AND 7 -8. The answers will be posted on the blog later.

Religion –Read pages 212 - 213 and complete the activity on page 213. You don’t have to design the collage, unless you want to. Just write down your ideas.  I’ll post the highlights.

Science – Lesson 2. Read pages 286-287.
Experiment with buoyancy. With a parent’s permission, fill a pan with water. Collect at least five objects – marbles, cork, Q-tip, coins, etc. and see which objects will float and which will sink. Objects with higher density than water will sink, but ones with lower density will float.
Take a piece of paper and make 2 columns. Label the first column, Sink and the second, Float. As you test the objects, categorize them in the correct column. You can do this in Hangouts with your classmates.

Grammar – Adjectives that Compare. Notes will be posted on the blog. Please read the notes. If you have any questions, email me or let’s Hangout.

March 24, Wellness Wednesday

While we are remote learning, every Wednesday will still be a day of learning, but the focus will be on our hearts, souls, and bodies.

Say your morning prayer, including any special intentions you have.

Reading and Religion — read a short bible story to someone in your family or make a recording/video of yourself reading it and send it to a grandparent or other family member who’s not with you.

Writing assignment - send me an email letting me know how you are doing.
What do you think about remote learning from home?
Do you miss being at school?
Are you nervous about having stay at home because of the Coronavirus?
Do you have questions about the virus?
Anything else you want to share with me.

Make sure you use correct punctuation and capitalization. No run on sentences or fragments.

Math and Science- if you can, cook, make, or bake something, with adult supervision. You can even make something as simple as chocolate milk or an ice cube. Notice the measurements — measuring cups are fractions (part of a whole). Notice the states of matter.

Art - From Ms. Lola: This week you are going to draw a robot using simple shapes like squares, rectangles, circles, and ovals. You can add lines and designs to complete your robot. Be creative and make it fun!!! Color it with bright colors!! Miss you all!

***** Also, TAKE A PICTURE of yourself working on your art or PE, studying, reading, etc. ALSO, take a GOOFY picture of yourself. Email both photos to me, please.

PE - Take Five or exercise for at least 10 minutes. If you can, go outside and play.

Computer: play Prodigy or another fun, educational game.

Music - play your favorite song and sing and dance like crazy!!

If you need to, take today to catch up on any school work you haven’t finished and review your spelling words for the test tomorrow. I’ll be checking all assignments on Wednesday to see where we are, just to make sure students are falling behind.

CHECK-IN:  We’ll have a quick check-in on Wellness Wednesday at 10am, unless you don’t have a question for me. Then you can skip it.
No check in at 2pm, unless you need me.

Enjoy your Wellness Wednesday!

Grammar Test check in

Don’t forget to email me to let me know that you’ve completed your Grammar test. I want to make sure everyone takes it today before we move on to adjectives that compare.

I’ve heard from: Lylee, Dru, Skylar, Angelo, Jaxon, Taylor, Channing, and Morgan.

Hangouts

Good morning, 3G!

Good morning, 3G!
I want to go over some of the rules again, because we’re getting too many calls all day and night.

1. Do not use 3G. That’s for me to check in with you all.
1A. When we Hangout, please make sure the TV is off. Radios and video games, too. It’s hard to hear with too much noise.

2. If you need me, start a new Hangout by clicking the + sign and typing in my email address: annmarie.ghio@sascolts.org.

3. No Hangouts before 8am or after 5pm unless your parents say it’s ok.

4. If you want to Hangout with your friends, create a small group by clicking the + sign in the bottom left hand corner. You can name the group, and then add your friends. DO NOT add the entire class.

5. You can set up as many groups as you want, just be aware of when you are calling. During the day, you should be working on school work for part of the day. Please don’t call constantly so that you aren’t disturbing your classmates and their families.
5A. You can use Hangouts to visit with your classmates, too. I know you all miss each other. Just make sure it’s in a small group.

6. You can use Hangouts for group work or to help each other, unless it’s a graded assignment. Just like in the classroom.

7. Be respectful of each other.

I want you to use and enjoy Hangouts, but please follow the rules so that it’s a fun learning experience for everyone.

If you have any questions, let me know.
Love you all,
Ms. Ghio

Handwriting –  Continue to work on your bible verse, which is due Friday
