I’ve been in Orlando, FL since Saturday for some PD. I’m at the Future of Education Technology Conference and since 8am on Sunday, I’ve been learning so much. I’m having trouble sleeping at night, because my brain has kicked into high gear — and I still have two more days!!! I can’t wait to get back to school to not only start implementing project ideas, introducing tools, and teaching learning strategies with my students, but also to share what I’ve learned with the SAS staff.
Yesterday our keynote speaker was Sal Khan, founder of Khan Academy. Their mission is to provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere.
If you’ve never heard of it, check it out.
If you have a child struggling in math, check it out.
If you have a child with some gaps in their learning, check it out.
If there’s something you want to learn, check it out.
If you have a child about to take the SAT or ACT, check it out.
If none of the above apply to you, still check it out.
There is learning by grade level and by content, mostly math, but areas in humanities, arts, science, and engineering as well.

Today I am going on a school visit to Millenia Elementary where I will be with 50 other educators from around the US to tour Millenia, which is one of the LaunchED digital learning schools that focuses on increasing student engagement and achievement through personalized learning using digital content and tools.
I know the students are upset that we didn’t get snow last night, as are my children. It’s going to be in the high 60s here with sunshine. After rain ALL DAY on Sunday and temps in the low 50s, I’m glad to have a warm, sunshine day!
