Our Out-of-this-World STREAM lessons

Check out how busy we've been the past two weeks:
  • They witnessed the solar eclipse and compared/contrasted the changes during three different times throughout the day.
  • They practiced telling time with Moon Math, using the timeline for the Apollo 11 moon landing. Did you know that Neil Armstrong stepped on to the Moon at 12:45pm on July 20, 1969?
  • Cassini is running out of gas! They had a Farewell Party as they watched Cassini's final mission (after 20 years in space), a controlled crash into Saturn's atmosphere to protect the Moons of Saturn. The Moon Pies were delicious.
  • In Religion, they drew a story board of the story of Creation, beginning with darkness into light.
  • They created their own unique constellations. If you're in the hallway by their classroom, check them out. When you see the stars, do you have the same perspective as they do?
  • They used a really cool app on the iPad to check out constellations during the day! Did you know that the patterns of the stars change with the seasons?
  • They also learned about telescopes and found the Hubble Telescope in space. What incredible engineering! Mirrors and lenses make an amazing tool.

And even though writing and performing our fables didn't quite fit in to our STREAM lesson, the students did an OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD job working in teams, writing a clear and concise story with a beginning, middle, and end, and presenting their stories in front of their classmates -- and the video camera.
