Adverbs




      Adverbs are words that can tell WHEN, WHERE or HOW something happens. 
·         Modifies a verb (can come before or after the verb they describe)
·         Often end in –ly
WHEN
now       first                   early             yesterday                       today
tomorrow          later              often                always         last  

WHERE
Here                there               everywhere            somewhere         
in                     inside      out     outside                      downstairs           underground

HOW
quickly             sadly                suddenly                      slowly
smoothly                     softly

Example of WHEN: 
She is going to get ready for the ball TODAY.
Example of WHERE:
She went OUTSIDE to meet her prince.
Example of HOW:
She walked QUIETLY up the steps to surprise everyone.
