What an impressive, adventurous, and dare I say EPIC  year, my sweet third graders --- at least for a few more days! Remember, teachers are students, too, and I appreciate all that you've taught me. I treasured watching you grow into 4th graders, more caring citizens, and deeper-loving Christians, and I am so super proud of you all. I have no doubt in my mind that the world will have future,  exceptional scientists, athletes, teachers, medical professionals, chefs, lawyers, social workers, artists, singers, dancers, business professionals, and so much more.

Happy Birthday, Ashley!

Just like Sarah

Sarah, Jacob, Anna, and Caleb lived on a farm in the prairie. Unlike us and our trips to Kroger to buy food, they had to raise animals and grow crops, using the earth that God gave them to provide food. They also cooked over a fire, since there was no electricity.

Using our math skills (measurement, fractions, multiplication) -- and a crockpot, we made stew, "just like Sarah". Students measured the dry and wet ingredients and chopped, minced, and diced the veggies. Then we waited patiently as the classroom filled with the delicious, warm smell of beef stew, onions, carrots, and potatoes (remember to add -es since potatoes ends in a vowel).

So, what did you think?

The reviews on the stew were mixed. Some thumbs, some thumbs down. Luckily we live in 2017, with plenty of food options.

We Love You, Jesus!

This morning at mass, the choir sang We Love You, Jesus as the presentation song.

There's some scary stuff in the ocean!!

The box jellyfish vs piranha?
Krachen vs megaladon?
Blue-ringed octopus vs the white-spotted sturgeon?

We're hard at work researching information for Who Would Win? project. Stayed for some hard-core battles!
