Possessive Pronouns



Possessive Pronouns
A possessive pronoun takes the place of the noun that shows WHO or WHAT OWNS (possesses) something.  
                                         Possessive Pronouns
                                     my                                       ours
                                    mine                                      his
                                    your                                       their
                                    yours                                     theirs
                                    her                                         its
                                    hers
                                    our


            Example:  John and Mary are friends. He rode HIS bike to HER house.  

            Explanation: The bike is HIS. It belongs to John. 
            The house belongs to HER. It belongs to Mary. 

            He is also a pronoun, but it's not possessive. It's a singular pronoun.
