I volunteer for Room in the Inn - St. Ann, which provides hot meals, clothes, and shelter to the homeless in Memphis during the winter months. St. Ann partners with other churches (all denominations) in our community on a rotating basis (St. Ann hosts every Tuesday evening/Wed. morning). Tomorrow is my day to bring in breakfast for the guests spending the night at the Ozanam Center. My sweet scholars were kind enough to help me put together 16 breakfast to-go bags for the guests.
Thank you, Brayden, Shannia, Brody, Paxton, Abby, Rylee, Drew, Justin, Alison, Sam, Jonah, John, Scott, Victoria, Luke,Marilee, Avery, Dominic, and Caroline for your service to the homeless. It’s the best Christmas gift you can give!
In our community of learners, we help each other learn like CHAMPIONS!! There is always another way to try and a friend to help. Believe in the power of YET! We CHALLENGE our minds to CHANGE our minds. And it is ok to be still and quiet.

3rd Sunday of Advent
Dear Jesus,
Help us focus on you during this busy season. May we stay aware of the joy you bring into our lives. We want to find you in everyday moments and to come with hearts of gratitude to your manger on Christmas. Amen
Opps! Even elves have trouble listening to instructions.
One of Santa’s elves (singular possessive noun) at the North Pole made a place value mistake when ordering some ping pong balls. Santa told him to order 1,000 (thousands, hundreds, tens, ones). He put way too many zeros and ordered 1,000,000!!! (millions, hundred thousands, ten thousands, thousands, hundreds, tens, ones) Now Santa needs our help finding a use for all those ping pong balls.
In this challenge, our elves worked in teams to design and build a prototype for a new toy that incorporates at least one ping pong ball.

A manger for baby Jesus
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
Luke 2: 4 - 7
Using twigs, glue, and/or string, students were challenged to build a safe and warm (adjectives) manger for baby Jesus.

Be safe, Santa!
Our little elves designed and made parachutes for Santa to take on his sleigh, just in case he runs in to trouble.
Will we have a white Christmas?
Let's make a forecast (prediction)! Today’s temperature is 48 degrees. What do you predict the weather will be like from now until Christmas morning?
Be sure to check your forecast each day to see if you were correct. (Fingers crossed for a white Christmas!)
