Writing is fun!

There are all types of writing: books, cartoons, scripts, essays, poetry, and ... MUSIC (lyrics)! Today Mr. Angotti visited the 3rd grade classes to help them write a Religion song. The students brainstormed ideas, words, phrases, just like we do when we write narratives. They came up with the first draft (even writing music uses the writing/editing process) to a new song titled, I Love You, Jesus (proper noun).

The song is centered around the Paschal Mystery, which is what we're studying in Religion. Ask your child what the four parts of the Paschal Mystery are -- if they forget, remind them to think about the song they just wrote. Songs are powerful tools for learning.

This is such an amazing, inspiring experience to see the students and Mr. Angotti start off with a few words & ideas and watch it evolve into a song; I wish I could video the entire process for you, but a few pictures and a sneak peek will have to do  (the video is at the bottom).
