your favorite book dominate the rounds and take home the championship?
Choose your FAVORITE book and get
ready to persuade (convince) your classmates why your book is the BEST!
You will complete THREE assignments AT
HOME during March Madness. See due dates for each round below.
1.
Round 1: Write
a summary of your favorite book. Your summary should be at least 8 sentences. Everyone
must prepare their presentation. Due:
Friday, March 25th
2. Round 2: Write
a paragraph about your favorite character. Due: Tuesday,
March 29th
3. Round 3:
Write a paragraph about the setting of the story. Due:
Thursday, March 31st
Each person will present their first
assignment to the class in round one. If you win in round one, you’ll move on
to the second round. Even if your book
doesn’t advance to the next round, you must still complete the assignment.
Only the winning teams will present their information.
For your presentations (no more than
2 minutes), you may do any of the following:
1. Make a video (have a parent email it to me)
2. Create a
poster board
3. Write a
summary and read it
4. Do a skit
5. Write a song
or rap
6. Book report
in a bag (optional)
7. Be as
creative as you can! Am
Grading: All three assignments will equal one Reading
grade for March Madness.
MARCH MADNESS ROUNDS
Round
One: Friday,
March 25th SUMMARY (beginning, middle, end)
Present a

After the each “game,” we’ll vote on
which book you liked best. The book with the highest number of votes wins and
moves on to round two. Remember, even if
your book doesn’t advance to the next round, you must still complete the

Tuesday, March 29th CHARACTERS
Present
information about your favorite character in the book (only if you move on to round 2. However, everyone must submit a paragraph).

the books. The book with the highest number of votes wins and moves on to round
three. Remember, even if your book doesn’t advance to the next round, you must

Thursday, March 31st SETTING
Present
information about the setting in the book (only if you move on to round 3. However, everyone must submit a paragraph).
Think about:

the story take place?
§ What is
unique about the setting?
After the each “game,” we’ll vote on
the books. The book with the highest number of votes, wins and moves on to the
CHAMPIONSHIP!
Championship:
“Go Big or Go Home!” Friday,
April 1st
Think of something major in your
story – a turning point, a problem/mystery that gets solved, something
interesting that happens, or something unique about the story. Present it in a
creative way to the class for the win!
