New Dismissal Procedures beginning Monday, August 16th

An email will be going out about this changes, but I wanted to post it now for you all.

St. Ann Catholic School Dismissal Procedures

In life and work, we often try new things. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn’t. Our dismissal procedures are not working, so we’ve re-evaluated them and appreciate your understanding and patience as we try to have our scholars picked up in a timely manner, but more importantly, safely! The safety of our children has to be the main priority in our dismissal procedures.

For families who were at St. Ann pre-Covid, we’re going back to our original pick up procedures.

PK 3 & 4 and Kindergarten

NEW LOCATION: Dismissal will be at the courtyard in the center of campus. NO SIBLINGS.

WHEN:

2:45pm        PK3  (rainy day will be at the gym doors)

2:50pm        PK4  (rainy day will be at the gym doors)

2:55pm        Kindergarten

(rainy day will be at the school doors by the chapel/bell tower. Please wait by the side of the chapel so that you are not blocking the upper grades dismissing from the same doors.)

WHERE TO PARK: Parents will park in the parking lot on the Stage Road side of campus, either by the chapel or the classrooms along Stage Road. Parents must pick up their child at the courtyard, where they will be waiting with their teachers.

SIBLINGS: If you have a child in 1st – 8th, please follow the procedures for picking them up on the back side of campus after you have your child. These grades do not get out of class until 2:50 and 2:55pm, so we do not want to interrupt their learning. Thank you for your understanding.

FOLLOW THE LAW: PLEASE do not park in the handicap spaces unless you have a permit.

1st  – 8th grades

NEW LOCATION:  Pick up will be in the back parking lot in the grassy space (the island) in front of the water fountain. 1st  – 8th students will be waiting in the grass at dismissal.

WHERE TO ENTER: All cars will enter off of CHARLES BRYAN at the SECOND entrance (closest to Ave Maria – NOT the one by the PDO playground.)

HOW: Cars will “snake” through the parking lot so that a single file line is formed***. The first car to arrive will STOP at the orange cones that will be in place on the right side of the grassy area. All other cars will follow behind, forming a U around the island, and then “snaking” through the rest of the parking lot.

*** We know that there will be a backup on Charles Bryan and Stage Road. It’s inevitable with the amount of cars. Bartlett Police are aware as well. We will move the line as quickly and SAFELY as possible to decrease the backup time. Please be patient.

WHEN: Classes will dismiss by 2:58pm and the car line will begin moving promptly at 3pm.

WHERE TO EXIT: ALL CARS will exit at Alturia. DO NOT be impatient and turn around in the parking lot to exit at Charles Bryan. This is unsafe for our students and other drivers who are following the rules.

PARKING:  (if a student is running late)

If your student is not at the island when the car lines starts to move, we will ask you to park in one of the side spaces by the front of the line. Once your child arrives and the line is stopped, a teacher will escort him/her to your car. Then you can pull out and exit at Alturia.

SAFETY RULES:

1.  HANDS-FREE. Please do not be on your cell phone while in the parking lot. We’re seeing too many adults on their phones during pickup. For the safety of all our children and staff, please be mindful of this rule at all times.

2.  Do NOT get out of line when your child gets in your car. PLEASE be patient and wait for the line to move. It is dangerous to have cars weaving in and out of line.

3.  Students must wait for the teacher on duty to tell them to load up.

4.  Please do not stop the line when it’s moving because you see your child. Keep with the flow of the line. Your child will come to you based on where your car stops in line.

5.  If you have someone new picking up your child, PLEASE SHARE this information with them.

6.  Teachers will be on duty to help students and keep the line moving safely.

Rainy Day Dismissal

Please form the same line.

When the first teacher on duty arrives, he or she will move the cars forward under the canopy in the circle drive.  The line will “snake’ as usual.

Students will be waiting under the canopy or the Youth Gym.

Loading the cars takes longer since we can only load 5 to 7 cars at a time. Please be patient.
