Spelling words and Phonic rules for Plural nouns

These are the new spelling words that you wrote in your planners on Friday. The pre-test will be Wednesday and the test will be Friday.

Phonics rules:

If a plural nouns ends in -ch, -sh, or -ss, add an -es.

If a plural noun ends in a "y" and has a consonant before the "y", change the "y" to an "i" and add -es.

Example:  turkey      turkeys     ("e" is a vowel, so you don't change the "y" to an "i". Just add an "s".

penny       pennies   ("n' is a consonant, so you change the "y" to an "i" and add -es.
