Grammar Notes: Prepositions


A preposition is a word that shows the relationship between a noun or pronoun and other words in the sentence. 

Example: She is a student from St. Ann Catholic School. 

From shows the relationship between the student and St. Ann. She is FROM St. Ann.

Example: John got in the car. 

In shows the relationship between John and the car. John was IN the car.
