Santa is going old school!
No GPS for Santa! Our elves drew a map for Santa so he’d know where to go on Christmas Eve. They incorporated their full mailing address, a landmark (like Kroger) plus a compass rose with cardinal and intermediate directions.
Dear Santa...
We have been practicing the correct format for writing a letter. We wrote a first draft, edited it, and then wrote the final draft of a letter to Santa. After we finished, we thought...how fun would it be to “fly” these letters to Santa.
Students designed their own airplanes out of the letter and then we raced them to see whose would go the farthest. We measured the one that went the farthest. They didn’t quite make it to the North Pole, but we had fun trying.
The airplane that went the furthest belonged to Paxton. His plane flew 8 yards, 1 foot, and 8.5 inches.

Our first Christmas STREAM Challenge
Every Santa helper needs a special hat.
Our little elves had to design and create a unique elf hat. The requirements in this challenge were that the elf hat had to be original (I only provided supplies; no template or instructions) and it had to fit the circumference (the distance around a circle/sphere) of their head.
They were definitely one-of-kind!!
