My not-so-green thumb

If you went to STREAM Night, I hope your blueberry plants are doing well. God didn’t bless me with a green thumb, but that hasn’t stopped me from trying to grow some fruits, veggies, and herbs this summer. Check out my blueberries, tomatoes, and strawberries. I have lots of blueberries, but it’s always a race between the humans and the squirrels to see who gets them first.

The peppers, eggplant, honeydew, and white strawberries are still blooms. And the herbs smell great!! I love putting fresh mint in my tea and fresh basil on my pizza.

Another beautiful day — perfect for testing the solar ovens that first graders made. They wrapped up their STREAM unit on energy by designing and building solar ovens. Today we successfully tested them by making yummy, messy s’mores!

Kindergarten fun in the library!

Since we aren’t checking out anymore books, KC had fun in centers and Makerspace!

Kite Handle

The kite handle some of the students used was designed by Luke and Jaxon and then 3D printed.

Up, Up, and Away

Today was a perfect day for flying a kite, so second graders hit the sky with their one-of-kind creations, applying what they’ve learned about lift, weight, drag, and thrust. Some flew and some flopped. We made repairs and adjustments. And we tried again. Lastly, we discussed what worked, what didn’t, and why.

Kite making is challenging, but our second graders did a phenomenal job!

3M Exercise Routines

As part of their Healthy Plate STREAM project, students learned about eating healthy, foods grown in TN, cooking healthy, and of course, the importance of exercise!

Working in teams, they composed original music in GarageBand and then choreographed an original exercise routine.

Thank you to Mrs. Angotti (PE) and Mr. Cooper (Music) for collaborating with us on this project.
